Bengaluru FC head coach Gerard Zaragoza wants to end their season on a positive note as they prepare to face Mohun Bagan SG in their final home game in the Indian Super League (ISL) at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

The Blues suffered a 2-1 defeat in their previous game against East Bengal FC in Kolkata, which dashed their playoff hopes. However, the Mariners will be aiming to secure all three points against Bengaluru FC to continue their pursuit of the League Shield.

The Blues have maintained an upward trajectory at home. They are unbeaten in their last six home games, and they have kept back-to-back clean sheets in their last two matches at Kanteerava.

Zaragoza aims to maintain their impressive home record to conclude the season with positive vibes.

“We want to win. It's still an important game for us even though we are out of the playoff race,” Zaragoza said in the pre-match press conference.

“In front of our supporters, this season we have lost only one match at home. We have a nice home record, and since I took over, we have four clean sheets, and our idea against Mohun Bagan SG is to take the three points," he added.

Despite securing the maximum number of points in front of their supporters, the Blues have failed to secure a single win away from home this season, managing only three points in their 11 away games.

"Of course, It was not a great season. When Bengaluru FC don’t qualify for the playoffs, we cannot say it’s a great season. The reality is that we need to improve in our away games,” Zaragoza commented.

Zaragoza urged his players to bring their leadership qualities onto the pitch, emphasizing the need to display fighting spirit and enhance competitiveness and determination.

In his remarks, he stated, “I want leaders—players who enter the field with their faces ready and win the game with their body language.”

“We had this in the past with players like Miku, Dimas, Bheke, and Paartalu. These characters are those that other players are scared to face, and that's important. This is something we need to work on with the new signings we'll have,” he signed off.

The objective is to win against Mohun Bagan SG: Ryan Williams

Ryan Williams joined his head coach in the press conference ahead of their upcoming home match against Mohun Bagan SG.

The Australian forward boasts three goals, 21 chances created, 13 successful dribbles, and 253 successful passes in the 16 appearances he had in the ISL this season.

Aligned with his head coach's aspirations, Williams is determined to secure a victory against Mohun Bagan SG, aiming to uplift the spirits of their supporters as the season draws to a close for the Blues.

“For us, the objective is to win tomorrow and give our fans something to cheer about, and hopefully that brings them back next season,” he said.

“Next season is something we are really looking forward to. For us it's more than the top six, it's higher than that. We're not looking to qualify for just the top six, I don't think that's good enough for BFC,” he concluded.
