Indian midfielder Gilbert Oliveira has joined Chennaiyin FC as a replacement for the injured Dhanapal Ganesh, the Hero Indian Super League club announced on Tuesday.Chennai are playing defending champions Atlético de Kolkata at the Salt Lake Stadium on Wednesday and Goan Oliveira will be available for selection. The 25-year-old was pleased to be joining the Super Machans who are currently at the bottom of the table.“I would like to thank Chennaiyin FC for giving me my first chance in the ISL. We are entering the business end of the league stage now so I will try to do my best and help Chennaiyin reach the semis,” Oliveira, who will be wearing jersey No.37, said.On Ganesh’s anterior cruciate ligament injury, Chennaiyin FC CEO Ashish Shah shed light. “We wish Dhanapal a speedy recovery following the successful surgery. It is unfortunate that he won’t able to play for us in this year’s ISL but he will be with us till the end of the ISL and continue his rehabilitation under our guidance,” he said.
