ATK Mohun Bagan defender Subhasish Bose stressed on the importance of sticking to the plans set by their head coach Juan Ferrando, as they take on Gokulam Kerala FC in their AFC Cup 2022 group stage match at the Salt Lake Stadium, on Wednesday evening.

“We are practising already in the evening, to get used to the kick-off time in the upcoming match (Gokulam Kerala FC). We also played one practice match during that time (4.30 pm). AFC decided that we have to play matches with a 4.30 pm kick-off, that is why we are coping up with the situation and we’ll give our everything to win our next match,” said Subhasish, during the pre-match press conference ahead of the Gokulam Kerala FC game.
Gokulam Kerala FC recently claimed their second consecutive I-League title, having edged past Mohammedan Sporting Club in the penultimate match, at the Salt Lake Stadium itself. The Kerala-based side have been playing in similar conditions for quite some time, which they turn into an advantage. However, the ATK Mohun Bagan star feels that positive results await if they successfully execute their plans.
“They have played very good matches, the last one was against Mohammedan Sporting Club, which we saw (from the stands). As our coach said, we have to go by our plan. We have to prove whatever the coach decides. We have to stick to our plan,” added the defender.
ATK Mohun Bagan are playing matches in front of their home fans, at their home ground, after a two-year gap. The preliminary matches have already drawn strong crowds, as the Mariners scripted comfortable victories over Blue Star SC (Sri Lanka) and Abahani Limited Dhaka (Bangladesh). With three vital matches down the road, the roar of the passionate followers is sure to hand them an added advantage.
“Playing again on our home ground, in front of the Mariners’ fans is always great. Last time we played (against Abahani Limited Dhaka), around 30,000 people were in the stadium, they were very great and amazing fans. That’s why, whenever I get a chance to play for ATK Mohun Bagan (it is great). We are getting a chance to play in front of them after two years. We want to continue our winning streak,” stated Bose.
