Mumbai City FC have been the early pace-setters in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 season and are looking good to defend their title. Forward Vikram Singh has been impactful for his side scoring some crucial goals.

Ahead of the clash against Kerala Blasters FC, the youngster spoke of his season under coach Des Buckingham, his experience so far with Mumbai City FC and his personal targets during a pre-match press conference.

Here are the excerpts from the player’s press conference:

How has your experience been so far with Mumbai City FC?

I’ve made the right decision by joining Mumbai City FC. For me, the main priority is to improve myself, and playing at Mumbai suits my playing style because last year, under Lobera, the playing style was similar to that of coach Buckingham’s: to keep possession and play an attacking style. So, I believe I’ve made the right decision.

How has it been training besides foreign strikers like Igor Angulo? What is your understanding with coach Des Buckingham?

They [foreign strikers] teach me several aspects of finishing during training and given my position and playstyle, I’m linking up well with the other forwards in the team.

You and Raynier Fernandes play in the same position. So, how does the competition motivate and improve your performance?

Such a competition is necessary because if the competition is there, there’s scope for improvement. Raynier is a senior player and performs really well whenever he’s given the chance, so I have a lot to learn from him.

Do you have any personal targets this season?

Yes, I do. I have to score a minimum of ten goals this season.
