Mumbai City FC midfielder Lalengmawia has been adjudged Emerging Player of the Month for November after impressive displays in the middle of the part for Des Buckingham’s side in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL).

The midfielder beat Kerala Blasters' Vincy Barretto, Bengaluru FC's Roshan Naorem and ATK Mohun Bagan's Liston Colaco to the award.

Lalengmawia was voted as the winner by nine out of the sixteen experts who decided the winner. Barretto received three votes while Naorem got two votes.

The 21-year-old had made eight interceptions, behind only Rahul Bheke in the Islanders squad. His excellent work in deeper midfield has allowed Ahmed Jahouh to move up the pitch and be a lot more effective as compared to last season.

Mumbai City FC have made a flying start to the season and sit top of the points table after four games.

The former NorthEast United midfielder has been enjoying time at his new club and hailed coach Buckingham’s influence on him.

“Working with Des is a great opportunity; I’ve been gaining a lot of experience. He knows what to do with the players and I’ve improved immensely under him. Individually, I really want to win the ISL trophies, so it’s the same aim from both sides and I’m trying to give more assistance and contribution to the club for the same,” the midfielder had said in a recent press conference.
