Atlético de Kolkata head coach Jose Molina believes his team is very much in contention for the semis despite a second successive draw in the 2016 Hero Indian Super League on Thursday evening. Playing at the Rabindra Sarobar Stadium against NorthEast United FC, ATK had Iain Hume to thank for their equaliser in the last minute of normal time. With 14 points from 10 matches, Molina's men remained fourth in the standings and the Spaniard had no real complaints at the post-match press conference.“The point difference between all the teams is too close… If I was thinking that we could be top of the table with 25 points right now, then that is rubbish. We are in the position that we deserve. I think we are in a good position. We will continue to keep fighting. We will fight to remain in the top 4,” Molina told reporters after the 1-1 draw.ATK have four more games to go in the league stage and when asked how many points he thought they would need to qualify for the semis, Molina said: “I don't know. In my mind right now, the only thing I want to grab is the three points in Chennai [on Sunday], nothing more. Then we will think about Goa and then Kerala. Right now I don't know how many points we need. But I am sure we need the three points against Chennaiyin FC. I will talk to the players and tell them the only thing now they should have their focus on is to go to Chennai and do their job to get the three points.”ATK's backline has been a bit off-colour season having conceded 11 goals from 10 games. Even against the Highlanders, a defensive error led to Nicolas Velez's goal five minutes into the game. Molina was quick to assess the performance of his defenders. “We made a big mistake in the first half. We gave them possession in the first few minutes. Then the goal. That made it more difficult for us. Of course, I am not happy with that. We are talking from day one not to make these kinds of mistakes. What I usually say, everybody can make mistakes but we have to improve… NorthEast United FC had just one chance to score in the whole match, so I think my team did a great job. It's okay if they make mistakes, we will try to talk to them. I am absolutely confident about my defenders. Of course, I cannot be happy about the mistake and we have to work hard to make sure we don't make such mistakes,” he said.Molina also dismissed a suggestion that it was their worst performance this season. “Today, it wasn't our worst performance. I am not happy and I think we can play better. We will talk to the players and we will encourage them to do better in the next game. We always try our best but sometimes we do mistakes, it happens. You can't always be at your best. I am happy with the players as they are always fighting, even today they fought till the last minute. Yes, it wasn't our best performance and we can play better. Now we have to think about playing in Chennai. We have to learn from the mistakes,” he said.Molina was also effusive in praise of Hume. “About Iain, I like him as a striker. I know his movements are good, he can score goals. I know he can play in different positions too… I am absolutely happy with him. He can help us in any position we need him,” he said.
