Mohun Bagan Super Giant's Vishal Kaith named Player of the Month for January 2025
Mohun Bagan Super Giant's star becomes the first goalkeeper to win the award this season with January’s accolade.

Mohun Bagan Super Giant goalkeeper Vishal Kaith has been named the Indian Super League (ISL) Player of the Month for January after a string of outstanding performances between the posts.
The 28-year-old shot-stopper played five matches in the first month of 2025, registering four clean sheets, making 13 crucial saves, and boasting an impressive 92.9% save percentage. He conceded just once throughout the month, which was enough to earn him the nod.
Kaith was in exceptional form throughout the month, but his standout performances came in their home victories against Hyderabad FC (3-0) and Bengaluru FC (1-0), where he made a remarkable seven and five saves, respectively.
Mohun Bagan Super Giant’s third win of the month came in the Kolkata Derby against East Bengal FC, where they secured a 1-0 victory to extend their dominance in the fixture. They also played out a 1-1 draw away to Jamshedpur FC, followed by a goalless draw against Chennaiyin FC, completing their third unbeaten month in the league after October and November.
Overall, Kaith has recorded the third-most saves in the ISL this season. His tally of 60 is only behind Jamshedpur FC’s Albino Gomes and Odisha FC’s Amrinder Singh.
The 28-year-old topped a six-man shortlist for January’s Player of the Month award, determined through a selection process where fan votes and expert opinions each accounted for 50% of the final decision.
From the expert vote share, Javi Hernandez secured 27.8%, followed by Kaith with 16.67% and Subhasish Bose with 5.56%.
Kaith led the fan voting with 21.25%, ahead of Bose (9.65%) and Brison Fernandes (6.80%). Another MBSG player, Alberto Rodriguez, earned 4.65% of the fan vote, while Hernandez received 4.25%, and Connor Shields secured 3.40%.
With a combined total, Kaith topped the overall standings with 37.92% of the votes, followed by Javi Hernandez with 32.02%, while his captain, Subhasish Bose, earned 15.21%.
