The impetus was on the home side as they needed a win to retain their title while a draw would have been enough for the Mariners. The Kolkata side seemed lacklustre throughout, until Bikramjit Singh (FC Goa) and Jeje Lalpekhlua (Chennaiyin FC) were introduced in the 82nd minute. Bello Rasaq equalized for Mohun Bagan in the 87th minute to break Bengaluru FC hearts.Shillong Lajong FC thrashed East Bengal 5-1 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Guwahati. Cornell Glenn bagged a hat-trick for the home side, as Seiminlen Doungel (NorthEast United FC and now Delhi Dynamos) and Zodingliana (NorthEast United FC) also found the net with the other two goals. Taisuke Matsunge grabbed the winner in the 90th minute from a Mohammed Rafi (Atlético de Kolkata and now Kerala Blasters FC) cross.In the Goan derby, Salgaocar beat Dempo 2-0 with Gilbert Oliviera and Darryl Duffy getting on the score-sheet. Following their seventh loss of the season, Dempo were relegated to the second division with only 19 points from their 20 games.Ranti Martins (FC Goa) ended the competition as the Hero I-League’s top-scorer with 17 goals to his name. Dudu Omagbemi (FC Pune City) was tied on third spot with nine goals to his credit as the Hero I-League campaign comes to an end.
