FC Goa coach Juan Ferrando lamented his side’s performance as they went down 0-3 to Mumbai City FC in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) on Monday.

A brace from Igor Angulo and a strike from Ygor Catatau won the contest for Mumbai City FC as Ferrando was especially critical of his side’s defending on transitions.

The Spaniard urged his team to control their emotions as they aim to bounce back against Jamshedpur FC on Friday.

Ferrando spoke to the media after the game.

Here are the excerpts from the post-match press conference:

What is your assessment of the game tonight? What went wrong for FC Goa?

The weak link was in transitions all the time. When we were playing in attack, we lost control of the areas and then in a lot of transitions, Mumbai had more chances against us. I think it's a big problem for us because when we are in attack, it's important to pay attention to the counter-attacks.

What exact aspect of the game did it not click for FC Goa?

Today there were a lot of details (that were missing). It's not possible to talk about one point or two points, (we have to do) detail by detail study. For example, in the first half we are in position in attack. For the wingers the control is not good and we lose the ball and then the press is not good and then Mumbai in two passes was in a position to attack. It's Difficult (to explain) because it's a lot of details.

How important will it be for FC Goa to bounce back from the defeat quickly because you play on Friday next?

The most important thing is the emotion of the team. This night is difficult for us, difficult for the players, difficult for the team. Now the important thing is to wake up early tomorrow and prepare. But the most important thing for the dressing room is to control the emotions.

We did not see Brandon Fernandes today. Any injury concerns?

Yes, he was injured with the national team. He is continuing the process of recovery. And in this case we need time because it's not so easy.

How painful was watching Igor Angulo score the goals against you?

No. I know Igor is a good No 9. Last season everyone knows him and of course he is a good boy, he is a good player. But for us it's not about thinking about just one player, it's thinking about the team. Of course Igor today did very well to score but the team was perfect in transitions. In this case it was a success of Igor and the team.
