Match Report: Hyderabad FC 1-1 East Bengal FC
“The late equaliser gave us a lot of happiness. I am happier with the way we played. If we play like this, we will get more positive results in the coming matches,” he said during the post-match press conference.
“My strategy is based more on build-up, playing triangles and movement of the ball. The players are now understanding what patterns we are implementing,” he added.
Manoj scored a rare goal for his team in the ISL but the coach saw it coming on the evidence of his performances in training.
“In the training too Manoj is scoring goals like these. It's normal. Against NorthEast United FC too, he got two chances but he couldn't convert. I was happy with the way the full-backs were supporting the attacking players,” he said.
Hyderabad FC though didn’t make the most of the 10 corners they got during the match and Shameel feels his team have room for improvement in that area of the pitch.
“I have been working on set-pieces with the players since last season. They are understanding their roles and responsibilities well. We have young players and sometimes they struggle to compete with big players. We are working on this and we will get better and stronger,” he concluded.
