Kolkata’s history-making team brings trophy home to ‘City of Joy’
Atlético de Kolkata’s title-winning team, who created history by becoming the first champions of the Hero Indian Super League, returned home with the ISL trophy on Sunday, December 21. They were greeted by a crowd of fans at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport.
The team celebrated with their fans and showed off their trophy at an event held at Quest Mall in Kolkata. Atlético de Kolkata won the inaugural edition of the ISL after defeating Kerala Blasters FC 1-0 in the final, held at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on December 20, with local player Mohammed Rafique grabbing a dramatic last-minute winner.
