The stage is set for an exciting semi-final showdown in the Kalinga Super Cup 2025, with four top teams battling it out for a spot in the final. Indian Super League (ISL) double winners Mohun Bagan Super Giant will take on FC Goa in the first semi-final on Wednesday afternoon at the Kalinga Stadium, followed by an intense evening clash between Mumbai City FC and Jamshedpur FC.

Mohun Bagan Super Giant head into this semi-final with tremendous confidence after a morale-boosting win against Kerala Blasters FC in the quarter-finals. Having already secured a spot in the AFC Champions League Two by winning the ISL Shield — and adding the ISL Cup to their trophy cabinet — the Mariners are fielding a young, hungry squad determined to continue their winning run.

"FC Goa are, without a doubt, a better and stronger team than Kerala Blasters. So my job is not easy. But my players are focused and ready.

"It's an exposure trip for the young boys and some seniors as well. It's a semi-final and I've told my boys to enjoy the game," said Bastob Roy, who is coaching the Mariners in the Kalinga Super Cup, in the pre-match press conference.

FC Goa, on the other hand, have shown resilience and character, most notably in their comeback win over Punjab FC. Under Manolo Marquez, the Gaurs have looked sharp and are among the frontrunners to lift the trophy and secure a shot at continental football next season.

"Everyone knows that you have to win four games to be the champion. Every game is very difficult. Winning a trophy is very important," said Marquez.

Mumbai City FC vs. Jamshedpur FC April 30, 8:00 PM

The second semi-final, with equally high stakes, will see Mumbai City FC go toe-to-toe with Jamshedpur FC in what promises to be a thrilling encounter. Historical context adds to the drama, as Jamshedpur FC have enjoyed recent success against Mumbai City FC, coming off two consecutive victories in their previous ISL encounters. This presents a psychological advantage for Khalid Jamil’s side heading into this crucial clash.

“We're playing the semi-final. It is an important game. We are playing against a good team and must work hard to get a positive result," said Jamil.

Mumbai City FC, however, come in with their own strengths and are led by their captain Lallianzuala Chhangte, who has been in fine form in the Cup competition, having scored in each of the two games so far. The Islanders will give their everything to salvage something from their season and aim for the Kalinga Super Cup—a trophy still missing from their cabinet. But standing in their way are Jamil and Jamshedpur FC, a side that has troubled them in recent seasons.

"Our expectations are always the highest; we want to win every game, we want to finish as high as we can, so we are here to win and bring the trophy for the club and the fans," said Kratky ahead of their semi-final clash.

Both matches will be telecast live on Star Sports 3, with live streaming available on JioHotstar.
