An injury time goal secured a 3-3 draw for FC Goa against Mumbai City FC in Match 87 of Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2020-21 at the GMC Stadium in Bambolim on Monday. The Islanders went up by two goals in the first half before strikes from Glan Martins and Igor Angulo restored parity for the Gaurs. Rowllin Borges then gave Mumbai City the lead late on and the Islanders looked set for a victory before super-sub Ishan Pandita scored the all-important equaliser for the Gaurs.

At the post-match press conference, FC Goa head coach Juan Ferrando hailed his team’s ability to come back into matches from difficult situations. “We changed the score after going down by two goals and that is very difficult. We can play under pressure and that is good,” The Spaniard said after the game.

Although Ferrando was happy with the comeback, he expected better defending during set-pieces from his team. “I am disappointed with our defending during set-pieces. Our mentality is to get the three points. We tried to protect the ball and find spaces while attacking. We tried to shoot the ball on the target. We want the three points, but it is difficult,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mumbai City FC’s head coach Sergio Lobera was disappointed with his team’s inability to hold on to their lead. “I feel like we lost the two points because in the 96th minute you have the three points but in the last action of the game, we lost two points.

“The biggest problem for us was that we did not manage the situation well [after taking the lead]. We gave them an opportunity to come back into the game. We could have won but we lost the two points,” he said after the match.

Lobera also expects his team to be more clinical in front of the goal after missing many chances to score their third goal. “We need to be more clinical because we had enough chances to score more goals. In the first half we had chances to score the third goal. Obviously, if we score the third goal then the game is over. We gave them the opportunity to come back into the game and increase their motivation,” said the 44-year-old.
