Jorge Ortiz, who was the leading goal scorer for FC Goa in Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 season, has decided to terminate the contract with the club after spending two years with them.

Ortiz has been one of Goa’s most impressive players for the last two seasons. The 29-year-old forward scored eight goals and provided five assists in 15 matches this season, including a memorable hat-trick against Chennaiyin FC to end the Gaurs’ winless run. In the 2020-21 season, Ortiz fired six goals and an assist.

The Spaniard played his last match for FC Goa on February 26 as a second-half substitute against Mumbai City FC.

Ortiz began his youth career at Getafe CF before playing for a number of Spanish clubs such as Atlético de Madrid B, Cultural Leonesa, Albacete B and many others. FC Goa brought him out of Spain for the first time in his playing career and Ortiz took to the Hero ISL like a duck to water.

Only Ferran Corominas (48) and Hugo Boumous (16) have scored more goals than Ortiz (14) for FC Goa in the Hero ISL.
