Hyderabad FC coach Manuel Marquez lauded his boys for creating ample goal-scoring chances in the past few games as they take on Jamshedpur FC in match 63 of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 at Athletic Stadium, Bambolim on Monday.

Hyderabad FC are third in the points table with 17 points in 11 games. They are only a couple of points behind Jamshedpur FC in second position and three points behind Kerala Blasters FC, the table toppers at present. They have registered only one win in their last five matches.

Hyderabad FC played a 1-1 draw against Chennaiyin FC in their last match. They had 19 shots at goal but only managed to score once. They were without their talisman Bartholomew Ogbeche.

Ahead of Hyderabad FC’s match against Jamshedpur FC, coach Marquez addressed the media during the official pre-match press conference.

Here are the excerpts from the press conference.

What are your thoughts on Jamshedpur FC?

It (Jamshedpur FC) is a very tough and physical team. They are like a typical English team. They have the best player in the league, Greg Stewart. They have good character and are dangerous from set-pieces. Moreover they have a coach who knows the league and is one of the top coaches here. But like always it will be tough for them too.

How will you tackle JFC’s threat from set-pieces?

We can’t, it’s impossible. It’s all about the deliveries. We have to pray he (Greg Stewart) doesn’t put very good crosses. He played for Glasgow Rangers which is the best team in Scotland. So he is very good in these situations. He can do everything and also has experience.

How can the team improve on the small details?

Yes we have had a lot of chances but I am not worried about us scoring. The important thing is to create chances. I am worried about maintaining consistency throughout the ninety minutes.

Do you think the return of Ogbeche will give the team firepower upfront?

Ogbeche is the top scorer in the league. Maybe we can play both the players (Ogbeche and Javier Siverio) together. In terms of minutes per goal Javier has the best record in the league. But let’s see we are looking for it. But let’s see.

How mentally tough does it become to deal with the whole covid situation?

All the teams are in the same situation. When you don’t know what will happen it becomes difficult, not just here in the bubble but in every aspect of life. Life is not easy. There are people who are in worse situations than us. We have to remind ourselves of this. We have to stay positive and do our work.
