Kerala Blasters FC head coach Mikael Stahre was pleased to see his side secure three vital points against Mohammedan SC at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata on Sunday.

The hosts started the game brightly and took the lead through Mirjalol Kasimov, who converted from the spot in the 28th minute.

The Blasters went all out in the second half, with Stahre making an attacking substitution by pulling off Alexandre Coeff and bringing on Kwame Peprah to add more numbers in attack. Peprah turned out to be a super sub once again, scoring the equalizing goal in the 67th minute before Jesus Jimenez netted the winner eight minutes later to register their second win of the season.

“Mohammedan SC are a good team. They are well-coached. I think they were better in the first half; we lost the ball too much. I think we also played a game, but I was really disappointed in our first 45 minutes. They talked to me and it was a great speech at half-time”, Stahre said in the post-match press conference.

“We stepped up (in the second half) and scored two goals. I think that they also gave us the intensity to play. They dropped back and we also put in more offensive players and I think we also had more opportunity to score. So I think we deserved this win,” he added.

This was the second comeback victory for the Blasters against a Kolkata side, having previously done so against East Bengal FC. The victory now takes Stahre's side to fifth position with eight points from five matches.

“We had a great comeback and I'm really proud of the team. It’s really an important victory for Kerala Blasters FC,” he said.
