SC East Bengal registered their first win in the 2020-21 Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) as they beat Odisha FC 3-1 at the Tilak Maidan Stadium in Vasco on Sunday. Goals from Anthony Pilkington, Jacques Maghoma and debutant Bright Enobakhare ensured their win and head coach Robbie Fowler expressed his delight at the post-match press conference.

“It’s always nice to get a win. We have now lost just once in the last five games. It was a good, professional performance. We are building and we know that there is a lot of work to be done. It’s a great start to the new year and hopefully we can continue,” Fowler said.

“We have been playing okay. We have made a few changes and it is important to have secured the win eventually. We are working very hard to get the results that we need.

“We have a way of playing and we want to keep it simple. When we do that, the game becomes a little bit easier for us. All the players have a role to play. We want the players to get comfortable in possession and try to win the game that way.”

Meanwhile, Odisha FC head coach Stuart Baxter was disappointed with his side’s performance after working hard on getting their tactics right. Odisha is now the only team this season which hasn’t won a single game yet.

“If we look at the performances of the teams, we let in two very poor goals which got them in front. We prepared for them to play in two different ways and we weren't a million miles from what we had prepared. We didn't pass the ball and we gave the ball away too much. We put ourselves under pressure,” Baxter said.
