Mumbai City FC continue to make additions to their squad for the upcoming 2018-19 season of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL), with the signing of Senegalese international Modou Sougou.

Sogou started his career in Senegal before moving to Europe at the tender age of 19. The winger would spend a few years playing for clubs in Portugal before moving on to Romanian giants CFR Cluj, a club then managed by Mumbai’s new head coach Jorge Costa.

After two seasons with the club, where he made over 40 appearances, Sogou would go on to represent Marseille in the French Ligue 1. Sogou also had a brief spell in England with English Football League (EFL) Championship side Sheffield Wednesday from 2015 to 2017.

The Islanders have been busy strengthening their squad. With Everton Santos’ departure, Paulo Machado and Sougou have been brought in to serve as reliable replacements. The Senegalese international will have a chance to take to the field in India for the first time when Mumbai begin their Hero ISL campaign against Jamshedpur on October 2.
