Kerala Blasters star defender Sandesh Jhingan, who was named the Hero Indian Super League ‘Emerging Player of the Tournament’, has joined Sporting Clube de Goa until the end of the season. Jhingan, one of India’s most promising talents, will be one of the Goan’s side’s most prized assets as they look to strengthen their backline. The defender, who turned out for the Blasters on 14 occasions, was also one of the liveliest players moving forward. This is clearly reflected by his 2 assists and 21 crosses in the ISL. The lad from Chandigarh will go down in history as the first player to win the emerging player accolade and was without doubt one of the brightest players in the ISL, even attracting the attention of European clubs. He will look to make his breakthrough to the senior national side soon enough, having been called up to the Indian camp by former national team coach Wim Koevermans. He has already represented the India U-23 side, shining at the Asian Games in 2014. Jhingan has also played for Mumbai FC and United Sikkim, helping the latter gain promotion to the Hero I-League.
