Midfielder Isaac Vanmalsawma has signed for Jamshedpur FC after deciding to leave Chennaiyin FC, the club announced on Friday. He has signed a two-year deal with the Jharkhand-based team.

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder came up through the ranks of the AIFF Elite Academy before signing for Shillong Lajong back in 2014. A host of impressive performances for the Hero I-League club saw him secure a move to FC Pune City leading up to the Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2017-18 season. His performances with the Stallions during their run to the semi-finals caught the eyes of Chennaiyin head coach John Gregory, who signed up the young Turk for the 2018-19 campaign.

Isaac became an important player for Chennaiyin last season, particularly in the later part of the campaign. He scored his maiden Hero ISL goal against ATK in December 2018. Isaac also had a big part to play during Chennaiyin's AFC Cup venture and even registered his name on the score sheet in the continental competition.

Blessed with pace and dribbling ability, Isaac represents a smart piece of business for Jamshedpur, who have been busy this transfer window.

“I am extremely happy to join Jamshedpur FC and take my career forward. I am looking forward to being part of such a talented squad. I can’t wait to start working with my team-mates and hopefully we can achieve great things together,” Isaac was quoted as saying after formalizing the deal.
