Jamshedpur FC managed to draw 2-2 against Kerala Blasters FC in their Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2019-20 clash at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on Friday. CK Vineeth extended the lead for the away side after Piti had given them the lead, but Messi Bouli’s brace allowed the Blasters to get a point from the game.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, head coach Antonio Iriondo gave his views on the result, “I always have to accept such a result. We will probably have a look at the match and see what went wrong and how they scored in the last minutes. I think we feel a little disappointed, but it was a good match. We could have done better in the second half.”
Adding to this, the gaffer spoke about the two late goals by Kerala, “The reason how Kerala managed to equalise is something I don’t know. Probably because they were losing and they had to play at home, and they had to do everything to score and draw the match. I am feeling a little bit bad because of the goals we conceded… silly mistakes and we could not convert our chances.”
The Spanish coach played Piti, who converted a penalty in the first half to give Jamshedpur the lead. Speaking on the effect of Piti on the game, Iriondo said, “Piti has been out for almost five weeks, so he put in a lot of effort and played with a lot of humility. We felt that 65 minutes was enough for him, so we don’t lose him again. We are very happy with the way he played. It was exactly what we wanted. I hope from now we can see more performance like this.”
