Hyderabad FC midfielder Joao Victor feels the bonding within the Hyderabad FC players, staff and the management is special and it translates into good performances on the pitch.

The Brazilian is into his third season with Hyderabad FC and is one of their most vital players. He scored twice in Hyderabad FC’s 3-3 draw with Mumbai City FC in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2022-23 opener. He says he is happy at Hyderabad FC and hasn’t been in a more comfortable environment.

“From the first season, we have the best group of people I’ve ever worked with. That’s why I am still here. I feel that I still have a lot to contribute to Indian football and mostly, of course, to HFC,” Victor told Sportskeeda.com in an interview.

Hyderabad FC’s unity was evident on several occasions last season as they overcame difficult situations to emerge victorious. They came from behind in the semi-final and the final to win their first-ever Hero ISL title. Bouncing back after conceding goals became a hallmark of the team.

“The key is that we are an amazing group. We support each other all the time. When we lose matches or make mistakes, we don’t blame each other, we just talk it over as a team and keep going. We have the confidence of the coach and his staff. We are friends and we enjoy playing together,” Victor said.

“When you enjoy what you do and you’re happy with the people around you, in the end, the result will always be good,” he added.

The 33-year-old is hungry for more success in the Hero ISL and has urged his club to step up from last year if they want to continue to remain successful.

“We have a very good squad with a mix of experience and young players. It’s our third year together and we know each other well,” said Victor.

“We know that if we want to repeat last season or do it even better, we need to step up. From top to bottom, from the owner and the coach to the youngest player in the squad, everyone needs to step up again,” he added.

Hyderabad FC take on NorthEast United FC in their second match of Hero ISL 2022-23 season in Guwahati on Thursday and will look to pick up their first win of the season.
