FC Pune City have announced that Iain Hume will be officially joining the squad for the rest of the season. The Canadian striker had signed for the Stallions back in August but wasn't a part of the team owing to a knee injury.

The departure of Uruguayan striker Emiliano Alfaro to ATK on a loan deal opened up the slot for Pune to register Hume as their seventh foreigner.

The Canadian striker is currently the all-time top scorer in the Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) with 28 goals from 59 matches. Hume played for Kerala Blasters FC in the inaugural season of Hero ISL and won the Hero of the League award for his brilliant showing. The striker spent the next two seasons playing for ATK and won the trophy in 2016. He was back with Kerala last season and managed to bag five goals in 13 matches despite an injury-ravaged season.

Hume's return will be a big boost for Pune, who are currently languishing at the bottom of Hero ISL table with just two points from seven matches. Pune's interim coach Pradyum Reddy expressed his delight with having the mercurial forward in his team and said, "I am looking forward to it. Iain will be a welcome addition to the team both in the dressing room and out there on the field. He has been raring to go and we look forward to see him on the field."
