Visitors NorthEast United FC were held to a 0-0 draw by Delhi Dynamos FC in their fifth game of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL). At present, the Highlanders stand at the third position with 8 points, having scored just four times but conceding even fewer. Their defence has been virtually unbeatable as their attack seems to be synchronising and getting better with each game.Head Coach Ricki Herbert believes his team is growing by the day and that they put in a good performance tonight. “I think Robin Gurung has been a super player,” commented the coach on his 22-year-old defender who almost won his team a penalty.Gurung was involved in a possible penalty incident as he came down in the box from a challenge from Delhi’s Wim Raymaekers. “I think it was a penalty and I don’t mean any disrespect. We might get one next week, we might not. So these things happen and we have to move on,” said Herbert. When asked to comment on his team’s performance tonight he said, “I think we played really well tonight. We kept a clean sheet, and this team keeps growing day by day. As I said last night, it’s important to invest in these players.”The Kiwi legend, who has played for his country and has a ton of club football experience across New Zealand and Australia, seemed pretty confident about the team’s chemistry. “Confidence is one thing and opportunity is another. I think the link-up between the players has been great. They hang around in the hotel, talking and sharing experiences”, he remarked. Rehenesh TP, who was awarded the Emerging Player of the Match and made a number of fine saves to deny Delhi Dynamos tonight, spoke about the fan support his team has been receiving in all their games. “Every match is a high tempo match. It’s really nice to play in front of such crowds. In fact, it felt like a home game. In almost every corner, people were cheering for NorthEast so it felt great,” he concluded.
