Coming off a convincing 4-1 victory over Chennaiyin FC, Harm van Veldhoven is a pleased man. However, the Delhi Dynamos’ manager feels maintaining consistency in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) is not only tough for his side, but also for the other teams in the fray.“We did well in the last match but it’s more difficult to maintain it. This team we are playing tomorrow has 7 points and is a good team. We have to concentrate on this game now and react properly after the previous win,” he said at the pre-match press conference ahead of their fixture against NorthEast United FC.The win in the previous game was the team’s first in the ISL and a morale boosting one. Despite NorthEast United having a 7-point lead, van Veldhoven does not feel any pressure going into this match. He remarked, “The teams which we have recently played have been ahead of us and we are now used to it. We have to concentrate on our formation and quality of performance.”As the league has progressed, the managers have had increased responsibility in terms of understanding the opponent’s game and playing tactically clever football. On this matter, van Veldhoven commented, “Now preparation is more professional. Also, there is more gelling and coordination between the Indian and the foreign players. When you watch other teams play, you also get an idea from them.”The Dutch-Belgian manager further elaborated on his coaching focus in his current stint. “I want the team to play together. Further, we are training in a technical and tactical way, which will hopefully make Indian football better. The Indian talent can use this training and competition to make the national team better.”The Indian players are already acknowledging the benefits of this bonding. Steven Dias, the well known midfielder, was happy with the way the ISL has shaped up. “To be able to play with highly skilled foreign players helps me perform better. This is a different experience with regards to training, diet and facilities provided and will surely help me improve my game.”Kristof van Hout, the towering goalkeeper of the Dynamos, who was also present at the media interaction, added that he is satisfied with the team’s performance and appreciates the organization of the side. “I try to save as many goals as possible. There is also good coordination between the defenders which makes it harder for the attackers of the opponent team to score goals.”Delhi Dynamos FC host NorthEast United FC in Match 16 of the Hero Indian Super League on October 29, 2014.
