Happy with the effort of my players: East Bengal FC's Carles Cuadrat
The Spaniard shared his thoughts on East Bengal FC's 0-0 draw against Punjab FC.
East Bengal FC head coach Carles Cuadrat was happy with the performance of his players in East Bengal FC's 0-0 draw against Punjab FC in an Indian Super League (ISL) match at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan Stadium in Kolkata on Saturday.
East Bengal FC looked defensively solid and worked hard from the first whistle however they were lacking the final pass. Cuadrat was happy with the effort of his players but believed that poor decision making in the final third made the game very tight.
“I am happy with the effort of my players. We showed that we are not overconfident,” Cuadrat stated in the post-match press conference.
“We know that we have to fight a lot for the three points and we did that from the first to the last minute,” he further said.
“However, the lack of a final pass made it a very even match. Any team could (have) won,” he added.

Punjab FC looked very solid defensively and restricted East Bengal FC to just one shot on target in the game.
Cuadrat acknowledged Punjab FC's performance in the game, however, he also stated his team had slight edge on the attacking side of the game.
“Today they were playing a good defensive game. They were very good in possession,” Cuadrat said.
“However if you see the numbers at the end of the match, we were the team with the most attacks and the most arrivals in the box,” he added.
The match ended in a 0-0 draw however East Bengal FC got their second clean sheet in three games and also extended their unbeaten run to three matches.
Cuadrat chose to focus on the positive side of the draw and feels that his side needs to continue working hard.
“In the end, we got a clean sheet and extended our unbeaten run to three games. We have to look to the positives and work hard,” he said.
