ATK Mohun Bagan registered a 1-0 win over FC Goa after a late penalty by Roy Krishna sealed the deal for the Mariners in Match 30 of Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2020-21 at the Fatorda Stadium on Wednesday. And head coach Antonio Lopez Habas was a satisfied man after beating one of the strongest teams in Hero ISL history.

“The players had a fantastic performance against FC Goa. Tactically the team were very good and they played according to the match plan,” Habas said after leading ATK Mohun Bagan to their fourth win in six games this season.

Habas showered praise on his talismanic striker Krishna, and believes he is the best player in the league. Krishna scored his first-ever goal against the Gaurs and now has scored against every single side in the Hero ISL. In all, it was his fifth goal this season. “Roy is a fantastic player for us. For me, he is the best in the Hero ISL. Now he has to stay fit,” Habas said.

Meanwhile, FC Goa head coach Juan Ferrando believes that his side needs to create more spaces in the attacking third in order to get favourable results. This was Goa’s second defeat in six games.

Star performer Brandon Fernandes was missing from Goa’s starting XI as was their winger Jorge Ortiz Mendoza. Ferrando explained why. “Brandon missed the last training due to illness. We could not start with him because he was not fit and hopefully for the next match on Saturday, he will be ready. We did not start with Ortiz because we need to protect the players as we will be back on Saturday to play Chennaiyin. On Saturday we need to protect another player because in three days we have another game. Because the players need some time to rest,” he said.
