New Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium will play host to the opening Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2018-19 match post the season’s first international break, as Delhi Dynamos FC renew rivalries with ATK on Wednesday. The hosts enter the match full of confidence after having put up an impressive display against FC Pune City in their season opener.

The visitors and two-time Hero ISL champions, on the other hand, have had a disappointing start to the season following two successive defeats. However, in the pre-match conference, Gombau refused to consider the match as an easy one, pointing to the quality in ATK’s squad. “We are ready and we worked hard to prepare for the game. We are excited to play tomorrow, and I think it’s a big game. ATK have a very good squad and I think, it’ll be a very good game and hopefully, we can win.

Delhi dominated the match against Pune, creating more than enough chances to win, but Gombau felt that though the sheer number of chances created by his team was positive, their finishing could be better. “It’s true that in the last game we had many chances and we missed those. This is something that we need to improve on if we want to win games. We are working hard in this aspect. We are working on finishing. There are one or more subjects in the game that we need to control if we want to be successful. The positive that I can see from this is that, if you create chances it’s a good thing because it’s difficult in football to create chances and we did it the other day. We need to keep creating chances, while also being accurate in finishing.”

When asked to share his opinion on Delhi’s promising young talent Lallianzuala Chhangte, the Spaniard went on the predict that the lightning winger could one day become the finest in the country. “Firstly, Chhangte is a very young player, which is something we have to take in consideration. For a young player, I think he has a very good level. He’s a player that creates a lot of chances because he’s quick. We are working on him and we are trying to improve his finishing. For me, he’s a player that can bring us a lot of positives. I think he has a good future in front of him and I think he will be one of the best wingers that India will have in the future.”
