FC Pune City completed a massive coup today by announcing Antonio Lopez Habas as their new head coach ahead of the upcoming season of the Hero Indian Super League. Habas will replace David Platt as FC Pune City’s head coach and is certain to turn the Stallions into contenders in Hero ISL Season 3 if his past record in the league is anything to go by.The Spaniard expressed his delight at joining the orange army and also spoke about what his expectations from his new team are. "I'm very happy to be here, thank you. My philosophy is simple. We have to win. Have a consolidated group, have tactical discipline and be a family" said Habas. The 58-year-old brings European pedigree and vast managerial experience to the Stallions’ camp, having managed Spanish sides such as Sporting Gijon, Granada and Valencia in the past. He also has tasted success in India by guiding Atlético de Kolkata to the title in the inaugural Hero ISL season. His second season in charge of ATK also saw him reach the semi-final stages of the league and narrowly miss out on the final after losing 4-2 to eventual champions Chennaiyin FC on aggregate.A charismatic leader and an astute tactician, Habas could be the man to lead FC Pune City into their maiden semi-final as he bids to maintain his record of making a semi-final appearance in every season. His appointment is bound to raise expectations for the Stallions this year as he hopes to improve upon FC Pune City’s sixth and seventh placed finishes in the previous editions of the Hero ISL. When asked what he is looking to instil in his present crop of players, he said: "We have to have a winning mentality. I have to convince the players immediately that we are going to win"
