Ahead of the their game against Kerala Blasters FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on Sunday, FC Goa assistant coach Fernando Vannucci has made it clear that the Gaurs will leave no stone unturned to book their place in the semi-finals of the 2015 Hero Indian Super League.
FC Goa are presently third in the table with 19 points from 12 matches and will seal a place in the semis with a win on Sunday. Vannucci, speaking to the media ahead of the game, said the Gaurs will go into the match with their first-choice team. “We have not qualified yet, so every player has to ensure that we qualify. We are going to search for victory in the two games we have. If we win tomorrow, maybe we can rest players in our last game of the league stage.”
When asked if Goa will once again put on view their attacking brand of football against a team that is no different from them in that regard, Vannucci said: “We always look to score more goals, but at times things don't go to plan. This is a very difficult tournament as we do not have many days to rest, which makes our life harder. Our first step is to qualify for the top four, and we are going to do that tomorrow.
“We have two games to go against Kerala and Delhi Dynamos FC, both are good teams. Kerala played very well against us in the first leg and we can never underestimate them.
“Kerala is a very dangerous team, they are always looking to attack and score goals when they have the ball. This is also our style of playing the game. That is why even when we are losing we are still looking for a result. This is our style of play. All our tactics will only come in handy if we win the match.”
