FC Goa, on Monday, completed the signing of Seiminlen Doungel on a free transfer from Kerala Blasters FC. The 25-year-old still had two years left on his contract with Kerala but will now turn out for the Gaurs till the summer of 2021, according to a statement released by FC Goa.

Despite being just 25, Seiminlen, popularly known among fans as Len, is an experienced Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) campaigner, with 50 caps under his belt. He has scored seven goals and provided five assists in his Hero ISL career so far.

Primarily a no. 10, Doungel is also adept at playing in any position in the attacking third, including as a lone striker if needed. The versatility will be a big boon for Sergio Lobera's Goa side, who like to employ a fluid front three with the ability to seamlessly swap positions.

A product of the famed JCT youth academy, Seimenlen began his professional career with Kolkata giants East Bengal as just a teenager. His first foray in the Hero ISL came in NorthEast United FC colours during the inaugural season back in 2014. He then turned up for Delhi Dynamos FC during 2015. After missing out on the 2016 season, Doungel returned to NorthEast for the 2017-18 season and scored a hat-trick against Chennaiyin FC, which earned him the distinction of being the first-ever NorthEast player to score three in a single match in the Hero ISL. He finished the season as the team's joint top-scorer alongside Marcinho.

The 2018-19 season saw the Doungel join Kerala and had his most productive season as far as goal involvements are concerned, notching up two goals and four assists. He was unlucky not to have added to the tally, with a number of his efforts coming off the post.

One interesting aspect of Doungel's style of play is his willingness to get involved in tackles and tussles for the ball despite being an attacker. A tireless worker on the field, Doungel tends to track back to help out the defence whenever required, as showcased by his stats - 107 tackles, 35 interceptions, 25 clearances and 24 blocks.

"Goa, as a team, have been consistently improving every season and playing a very good brand of football. I am looking forward to playing at Fatorda in front of the Goan faithful and I wish to win the Hero ISL with the Gaurs," the player told the official FC Goa website after putting pen to paper.
