NorthEast United FC coach Cesar Farias chalked his team’s recovery in the 2015 Hero Indian Super League up to a lot of patience. Farias’ men beat Chennaiyin FC 2-1 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday evening to move up to fifth in the table with 13 points from nine matches.“Football always needs patience. In good and in bad moments, you need to have patience. I am happy after the win. We scored goals and this was the away game against the toughest team we played so far. So I am super happy today,” Farias told reporters after the game. For the Highlanders, goalkeeper TP Rehenesh made quite a few heroic saves and was rightly chosen Hero of the Match. Farias praised the goalie but said it was a team effort. “Of course, he was a very important player but this is the team win. The whole team played really good. Reagan [Singh] was playing with a few stitches from the beginning and the foreign players also played really well. These three points were earned by the whole team.”Meanwhile, Chennaiyin FC coach Marco Materazzi stood by his players following the defeat. Chennai suffered their fifth loss in nine matches and moved down to seventh in the league following Diomansy Kamara and Silas’ goals for NorthEast.“Today, we have nothing to blame the players, they were playing good. We had more chances than NorthEast. We have five more games left and we should play every game as if it's a final. If you win two games in a row anything can happen,” Materazzi said. For Chennaiyin, goalkeeper Apoula Edel returned and had a forgettable evening in goal. However, Materazzi refused to blame the goalkeeper. “When opposition scores one goal, it’s never about a single player. Edel is an experience goal keeper…”He continued: “It’s not fair to blame the defence for the defeat because when the opposition scores a goal, it’s against the whole team.”Rehenesh also drew Materazzi’s attention. “When I have to make complements about the opponents, I always do. I think the best player on ground today was their goalkeeper Rehenesh,” Materazzi said of the NorthEast goalkeeper.
