Indian Super League (ISL) outfit Jamshedpur FC will kick off their Durand Cup 2025 campaign on Thursday as they face Nepal’s Tribhuvan Army FC at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur.

The Men of Steel had a commendable run in the previous ISL season, reaching the semi-finals, and followed it up with a runners-up finish in the Kalinga Super Cup. Head coach Khalid Jamil will be eager to see his side rediscover that form and build on it as they aim for a stronger showing in the Durand Cup, having exited at the group stage last year.

Jamshedpur FC will rely on a solid Indian core comprising Albino Gomes, Ritwik Das, Pronay Halder, Mobashir Khan, and Nikhil Barla. The squad has also been bolstered with added experience and depth ahead of the tournament.

The team will be keen to start their campaign on a winning note, and experienced goalkeeper Albino Gomes underlined the importance of the tournament and its legacy.

"The Durand Cup is a historic tournament with so much legacy, and we know fans in Jamshedpur expect us to respect that with our performances. My role now is to bring even more focus and composure at the back, to help us go as far as we can. We want to set the tone right from the start," Gomes told the club's website.

However, Jamshedpur FC will need to be cautious of their opponents. Tribhuvan Army FC, one of Nepal’s most prominent clubs, returns to the Durand Cup this year with past experience in the tournament.

Last season, they registered a win in the group stages but couldn't advance through to the knockout stages. Now, having learned from that campaign, they will arrive much better prepared this time around, hoping to make their presence truly count.
