NorthEast United FC head coach Khalid Jamil feels that the result was fair, but he would have been satisfied to walk away with full points, as they played out a 1-1 draw against FC Goa in their Hero Indian Super League (ISL) match at the Athletic Stadium in Bambolim, Goa on Friday.

A 3rd minute strike from Hernan Santana was cancelled out by Alberto Noguera later on in the first half, as the Gaurs failed to breach the target despite several attempts in the second half.

Jamil addressed the media during the post-match press conference.

Here are the excerpts from the press conference:

Do you think that 1-1 was a fair result?

I think it is a fair result, but I think if we got three points, I would have been much happier for us because looking at FC Goa, they also missed some players. Defensively, they were not up to the mark because their foreigner was not there. And their captain also. So I thought we got the early goal, Hernan (Santana) scored from a good free kick, so it was enough to get three points.

Do you think it was a mini-win for the defence, by the way NorthEast United did not allow FC Goa to score the winner?

Yeah, yeah, they played good. Everybody tried, especially  (Provat) Lakra, and Gurjinder (Kumar) - who came after a long time and he did a good job and (Patrick) Flottmann. And Mashoor (Shereef) also did a good job. Sehnaz (Singh) and Hernan also. So overall defensively, we can say that we played good and we must continue with the same rhythm.

You talked about rhythm. NorthEast United FC are now winless for four matches, what does the team need to do to get back the rhythm?

Yes, we have to concentrate. Keep working hard and then the results will come.

Any update on Rochharzela and Dehorn Brown’s injuries?

You got Deshorn (Brown), Chara (Rochharzela). Rochharzela, I think has got serious injuries, shoulder injury he’s got. So, I hope he also gets recovered and Brown also. I don't know (the intensity of Deshorn Brown’s injury), but we'll see, we'll speak to the doctor then we'll see how he is.

NorthEast United FC now have new players like Marcelinho and Marco Sahanek, how are you planning to utilise them in the scheme of things?

Talking about that, they must come soon because we need them because we always have problems with injuries. So if they come, they are experienced players, so they will also play a major role. So it will be good for us.
