Delhi Dynamos FC got back to winning ways in the 2015 Hero Indian Super League with a 2-1 win over NorthEast United FC at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati on Sunday. Goals from Robin Singh in the 30th minute and Gustavo Dos Santos in the 88th minute for the visitors were enough to see them through to the semi-finals. Seityasen Singh scored the lone goal for the home side in a hotly contested game in front of the 28,172 fans who came to witness the game between the two teams in the top half of table. The hosts welcomed back Diomansy Kamara into their fold after he missed out the game versus FC Goa due to suspension, with Victory Mendy and Seityasen handed starts as well by Cesar Farias. Roberto Carlos made three changes to his team too, with Richard Gadze, Hans Mulder and Sehnaj Singh starting for the visitors.Delhi were dealt a blow in the first five minutes of the game when defender Souvik Chakraborty had to be withdrawn after an injury and was replaced by Seminlen Doungel. The first half saw a lot of nervous moments for both the keepers early on with Toni Doblas and TP Rehenesh fumbling in between their posts. But it was Rehenesh who had the harsher penalty when his punch from a Florent Malouda free-kick was not cleared well by the defence and the ball fell to an unmarked Robin Singh in the box and the India striker made no mistake in burying the half volley past Rehenesh to give Delhi the lead.Minutes later, Singh found himself one on one with Rehenesh again, getting to the end of a wonderful through-ball but this time the keeper stood firm and went down well to thwart the Delhi striker. NorthEast capitalized on this play and pressurized Delhi at the back, with Seityasen pouncing on a defensive error close to the Delhi box and coolly slotting it past Doblas in the 37th minute. The Highlanders came close to taking the lead when Simao got onto the end of a low cross right in front of the keeper but his shot lacked the necessary power and direction. The second half was a cagier affair, with both teams failing to make telling impressions on the proceedings of the game. Dos Santos was introduced by Carlos to make an impact and the Brazilian player was quite lively on the flanks. His left-footed long range effort caught Rehenesh going the opposite direction but the keeper pulled off a good save from the stinging shot.Santos continued to trouble the Highlanders defence and was finally rewarded when he latched on to a ball after Mulder was dispossessed and the referee waved play on. Santos picked his spot and shot low and hard into the bottom corner past Rehenesh, putting the game past the hosts. Delhi closed down the game and saw off the final few minutes to win the game, a welcome relief after the 4-0 drubbing by Chennaiyin FC a few days ago.The win takes Delhi into second spot on 21 points behind league leaders Atlético de Kolkata with two more games to go. NorthEast United, on the other hand, are still in the top four, at the fourth spot, but are in a tricky situation with only a game in hand and a negative goal difference.MATCH AWARDSClub Award – Delhi Dynamos FCSwift Moment of the Match Award – Robin Singh [Delhi Dynamos FC] (Watch here)Amul Fittest Player of the Match Award – Cedric Hengbart [NorthEast United FC] DHL Winning Pass [Delhi Dynamos FC] – Hans MulderISL Emerging Player of the Match Award – Seityasen Singh [NorthEast United FC] (Watch here)Hero of the Match – Gustavo dos Santos Marmentini [Delhi Dynamos FC] (Watch here)
