Costa not taking struggling Delhi for granted

Mumbai City FC will be on the lookout for their fourth win in five matches when they play against bottom-placed Delhi Dynamos FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on Monday. A victory for the Islanders will place them in a favourable position in the race to secure a top four spot.
At the pre-match press conference, Mumbai head coach Jorge Costa spoke to the media about his thoughts on the match. In the reverse fixture back in October, Mumbai defeated Delhi 2-0. When asked if the past victory and Delhi's lack of form will give his team extra confidence going into the fixture, Costa said, "In the first game we won 2-0. This game is over. Of course, it was good for us to win the game. To be honest, when you watch Delhi play and you see the table, you are amazed. What we see in the table doesn’t reflect the truth. They play well and if you remember their last game against Bengaluru FC, if the result was 2-0 or 3-0 at half-time, it would have been normal. But they lost the game. So, we must respect them a lot. But we want to go back to Mumbai with all three points."
Last season, Delhi emphatically beat Mumbai 5-1. When asked if that was still on the minds of the players, Costa replied, "I was not here last year. Especially here in India, from one year to another, things change a lot. So, we cannot compare last season to this season."
The Portuguese coach concluded by outlining the takeaways from the frustrating goalless draw against ATK in their last match. "Before the game, we wanted to win. But we know that we will not win all the games. When the game is finished, and you have a look at it again, you cannot say anything about the players when they give everything. The last game was not a very good game. We tried but at the end, we won one point and lost two," he stated.
