After almost eight months away from the beautiful game, Bengaluru FC skipper Sunil Chhetri is enjoying his return to training again. Chhetri is second in the list of active top-scorers on the international stage having netted 72 times for the Blue Tigers over the years. While discussing the feat during an interactive session with the Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli, Chhteri insisted that he does not feel any added pressure because of the milestone.

“The joy and love that I get from playing football is unbelievable. It is such a feeling that I want to give everything that I have got. I just enjoy it. I am living a life that I never even dreamt of. I don't let even a day go by wherein I don't give a 100 per cent. I am where everyone wants to be. I don't (feel) too much pressure with that,” Chhetri said.

Having begun his pre-season with Bengaluru in the beginning of October at their academy in Bellary, Chhetri is happy to finally be back with the whole squad after the lockdown. “It is very good to be back with the team. We have worked hard individually, a lot of youngsters have come in really ripped. It was more difficult mentally, to be more patient (during lockdown), to have a goal and be more disciplined,” he shared.

Chhetri went on to share his sympathies for the fans who will watch their favourite teams play from their homes since Hero ISL 2020-21 will be staged in Goa behind closed doors. “As a fan when we got the news that we are not allowed to go to the stadiums, I always felt bad. Football is all about fans. Then I watched a game, and I realized that live sports give you so much happiness. It is equally exciting. As a fan, you have to be patient till the time we get over this. Watch it on TV and enjoy it,” he said.
