Vivek Nagul and Dhanachandra SinghChennaiyin FC assistant coach Vivek Nagul was obviously a disappointed man after his side were held to a dramatic 2-2 draw in the dying minutes of the game against NorthEast United FC.“It is a case of two points dropped. We are very disappointed because our performance deserved the win. The better side lost two points today,” Nagul remarked at a press conference post the match.Nagul felt that rival goalkeeper Rehenesh TP should have been sent off for his foul on substitute Balwant Singh. “Yes, I felt it was a penalty but in the end it is the referee’s decision and we have to accept it. It happened to Shilton Paul in the previous game, so we were expecting a similar decision but we choose to accept the decision of the referee,” he stated.Nagul agreed that with the games coming thick and fast, the onus is on the coaching staff to keep the players fit, “It won’t be easy for us with all the travelling. We won’t dwell on the opportunity that has gone by. We will be charged up and be ready for the game against FC Pune City,” a charged up Nagul declared. The official sought to play down the fact that his team is overtly reliant on Elano Blumer to score and called on the other strikers to step up to the plate. “Elano is a fantastic player and he was incredible again today. He is having an amazing tournament and he has scored in every game so far. Our strikers showed good energy today and they must start getting on the score sheet very soon,” he said.Left back Dhanachandra Singh, who also attended the press conference, aired his thoughts on the game. “I have been playing left back for a long time so I am used to running up and down the flank, however, in this game I told myself to keep improving and be more consistent,” he revealed. The Manipuri player went on to add, “We are extremely disappointed in the manner in which the goals were conceded. There could be a lapse of concentration and I do hope we will rectify this situation in the upcoming matches,” he said.
