Hyderabad FC head coach Thangboi Singto expressed his respect for the opponent head coach Owen Coyle ahead of their next game against Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai on Saturday.

Despite a 20-match winless streak in the ISL, the Yellow and Black have shown promise in their recent performances. In their last match against NorthEast United FC, Hyderabad FC staged a second-half comeback to secure points, rallying from a 2-0 deficit until the 69th minute.

Singto acknowledged the strengths of his opponent as he anticipates a challenging outing against Coyle’s team. He urged his players to give their all to achieve a positive outcome from the match.

“Chennaiyin FC are a bit mystical in their results. They are a strong side, with quality and experienced overseas players and others who can have an impact in front of goal,” he said in the pre-match press conference.

“We know that this might be the toughest game for us so far this season, but we are ready and will give it our all,” he added.

Singto is focused on securing their first win of the ISL 2023–24 season against the Marina Machans. He expressed his respect for the opponent's head coach as he anticipates a daunting challenge for his players.

“The mood is good, but we need points against Chennaiyin FC,” he stated.

“It’s tough because people might say that Chennaiyin FC have not won enough games, but they have an ISL-winning coach, who is one of the most experienced coaches ever in the ISL. So it's going to be another challenging task for us,” he continued.

Singto expressed his opinion that gaining a point from their last match boosted his players’ confidence, and he shared that it would help them build on their momentum.

“It was a big booster for everyone involved, and I know it's not enough,” he commented.

“But at this juncture, I think a point is also much, much helpful for us in terms of creating that little bit of a breather and a little bit of everybody, a feel-good factor,” he signed off.

We'll give our 100% to get the three points: Joseph Sunny

Forward Joseph Sunny accompanied Singto in the press conference ahead of their next match against Chennaiyin FC. The 20-year-old forward didn’t see this as a competition regarding their performance with Makhan Chothe; rather, he expressed their determination to bring out positive results as a team for the club.

“For my side, I don’t think we fight for the position; we fight for points,” he said.

“If he scores or if I score, it's not an issue for me. He played (in that position) because I had an injury. He scored, which is very good for him. I need to improve, and I want to show what I’ve worked on. It’s a little bit challenging, but I will try my level best to do what I can,” he added.

Sunny is determined to secure their first win against the Marina Machans by delivering their best performance as a cohesive team. In this context, he shared, "In every match, we aim for three points. It's not about facing Chennaiyin FC or FC Goa.”

“We are trying our best and will give our 100% to get the three points. We are playing only for the three points, not less than that,” Sunny concluded.
