Delhi Dynamos FC head coach Roberto Carlos was overjoyed at his team’s semi-final berth-clinching win over NorthEast United FC in the 2015 Hero Indian Super League at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Guwahati on Saturday. Robin Singh opened the account for Delhi in the 30th minute before Seityasen Singh scored the equalizer for the home side. However, a late Gustavo dos Santos strike helped Delhi move up to second in the standings behind defending Atlético de Kolkata and seal a berth in the semi-finals. Carlos’ joy knew no bounds.“Had Robin Singh not scored first, they wouldn’t have counter-attacked and we wouldn’t have ended up scoring the second one. Happy for my team, we were very motivated and fought for the three points, and that takes us to the semis. But we have to amp up the intensity for our upcoming games against Kerala Blasters FC and FC Goa,” Carlos told reporters after the match.“It’s us and Kolkata in the semi-finals now. Other teams need to fight for the other two places, but it doesn’t really matter. We have a game against Kerala, then Goa. We can’t leave room for any errors on our part.”Hero-of-the-Match Dos Santos also accompanied Carlos to the press conference. Dos Santos, who scored his second goal of the season, was happy to have contributed to the team’s cause. “For me, it doesn’t really matter if I am the star of the team. What’s important is the team which is full of talented and skilful mates.”The only blemish for the Lions came early into match when defender Souvik Chakraborty had to be replaced by Shenaj Singh on account of an injury. Carlos provided an update on the status of the injured player. “The team doctor is looking after him. We’re still waiting for the reports. Thankfully, it doesn’t look dangerous,” he said.
