Delhi Dynamos FC won their second successive Hero Indian Super League Season 2 game when they beat FC Pune City 2-1 at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium in Pune on Wednesday, and the visitors’ marquee player-cum-coach Roberto Carlos, in the post-match press conference, was all praise for Robin Singh who scored the team’s opener in the 24th minute and set the tone for the win after featuring for India against Oman less than 24 hours ago.“I said yesterday that it would be a tough game. I told my players to start the game well and keep the game intense from beginning to end. We started well and then Robin scored. The result was very important for us. We are now at the top of the table but our goal is to go up,” Carlos said.“I want to congratulate all of my players, especially Robin that he came back from the national squad and had a good game. He just came back and was very tired. He didn’t even sleep. I asked him how we was feeling and he said he was ready and he wanted to play. He is an example.”Robin, who featured in India’s 3-0 defeat in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday night, accompanied Carlos to face the media and shed light on playing two games in such a quick time. “Before I got on the plane home, I rang back home and spoke to the coaches and officials and they asked me if I was ready. So I said, if you want me ready, I will be ready,” he said.“As soon as I got done with the Indian team game, I was mentally ready. I thought to myself, I will go there and win. I don’t like losing. I decided to learn from the Indian team game and not make the same mistakes and move onto the next game. I kept my focus and I want to thank coach for letting me play today. At the end of the day I can say I want to play but he wanted me to play.”Carlos was also impressed by footballs fans in Pune. “People here love their football. It was the same in Goa, Chennai, Delhi and everywhere. Their team lost but the supporters saw a good game. Every stadium I have been to, the cheering has been awesome. But the Delhi supporters are the best. Against Chennai we had 25,000 people. But we want to have 60,000 people. That’s what I keep asking the Delhi supporters to come and support us. So that we can have a good show, we are doing well away from home anyway. Congratulations to every football lover in India,” Carlos said.
