Former East Bengal FC head coach Carles Cuadrat on Thursday wrote a touching message for his former club and their fans after his stint with the club came to an end.

Cuadrat stepped down as head coach on Monday following a difficult run of results, which included three straight defeats in the Indian Super League (ISL). His final match as head coach was against FC Goa in Kolkata, marking the team's first ISL home game of the season.

The Spaniard, who took the helm in 2023, also experienced notable successes with the Red & Golds, guiding them to the Durand Cup 2023 final and helping them secure the Super Cup.

In the ISL 2023-24 season, East Bengal FC finished ninth but had been in contention for a playoff spot at one point, a significant improvement compared to their struggles in previous seasons since joining the league.

“From the very first moment I understood what means to represent a Club with so much History and so many Fans who love it, and I wish with all my Heart to the #amagofans and all the big Red & Gold community many Successes and Joys in the Future,” Cuadrat wrote in his message.

Interim coach Bino George has taken charge of the team following Cuadrat’s departure. East Bengal FC return to action on Saturday as they take on Jamshedpur FC in an away clash.
