Bengaluru FC bounced back from their defeat to Mumbai City FC in style with a dominating 3-0 win against Odisha FC at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday. The win also propels the Blues to the top spot in the Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2019-20 table.

At the post-match press conference, Bengaluru head coach Carles Cuadrat praised multiple players for their performance through the 90 minutes. Beginning with his analysis of youngster Suresh Wangjam’s performance, he said, “We were playing him because of Xisco (Hernandez), who is a very fine player. We were using Suresh for marking Xisco. He has been playing very well. He has shown passion, waiting for his moment. With young talents, you have to be careful. Giving them the opportunity in the right moment. So, happy for him. He was very good with the ball. He was working well in defence, marking Xisco. Very happy with his performance.”

The match started with Odisha dominating the ball, but the tide changed after Bengaluru scored two quick goals midway through the first half. Summarizing the tie, Cuadrat commented, “Football is like this. They went in the game very well. A lot of possession, getting confident. Once we had our chance from the set-piece, we made it 1-0 and then it’s a different game. Football is like this. It’s a lot of little margins always. We are happy that this week we scored first, because it puts you in better situation.”

The Spaniard then, shifted his attention to the performance of Erik Paartalu and stated, “Erik is doing very well. he is having a great season. He is helping us a lot in the game. In set-pieces, he is a very natural player. He just had one of his best games of the season.”

Striker Deshorn Brown marked his home debut with his maiden Hero ISL goal and looked threatening throughout his time on the pitch. Voicing his opinion on the new signing, Cuadrat said, “I think he understood the way we want to play very fast. He is a clever player. He is helping us a lot. He is not physically ready to play 95 minutes, but I think he is going to improve in that aspect in the next weeks. He has been a good signing for us.”

Finally, the Bengaluru head coach praised the tireless work of Udanta Singh and stated, “I think he was making a wonderful game. In defence, he and Sunil (Chhetri) helped a lot. In attack, he did what I demanded of him. Try to go one against one, try to put good crosses, and try to arrive in the box. He was really unlucky not to have scored. Very happy with the job he was doing today.”
