Mumbai City FC started their Hero Indian Super League Season 2 campaign with a 3-1 defeat against state rivals FC Pune City at the Shree Chhatrapati Shivaji Sports Complex in Pune on Monday. Reviewing Mumbai City FC's performance, assistant coach Oscar Bruzon said, “We cannot complain about the game. We played well in the first half, and dominated most of the game, beating Pune on attack. In the second half, FC Pune City made some smart changes. And we made mistakes on the left. We lost the game because of our defence; I wouldn’t worry about the attack.”Burzon also released some information on why team’s marquee player-cum-coach Nicolas Anelka came on to play in the second half. “Nico [Anelka] likes to play as a 9 or in the hole. Today, he came on for a bit and had to play deep. He had the flu and wasn't training for five days prior to the match, so he decided not to start,” Bruzon revealed. The Spaniard also gave the logic behind going in with goalkeeper Albino Gomes ahead of Debjit Majumder. “Debjit didn't play since he was with us for only few days; we felt Albino was training well and did well in the pre-season as well.”Burzon also praised his rivals after their impressive show at home. “FC Pune City is definitely fighting for a spot in the top four. We ought to buck up as well”Mumbai City FC now travel to Kochi for their second game on October 10, against Kerala Blasters FC.
