Winger Lallianzuala Chhangte said he was delighted to join Mumbai City FC on a six-month loan deal and considered it his best decision as it is a move that could give new wings to his career.
Chhangte’s deal took place on the deadline day, January 31, 2022, and the club and the player were pleased by pulling this deal through. There was drama as Chhangte had to wait till the last day of the transfer window to know about his future.
While speaking to Press Trust of India Chhangte said, “I thought a lot about making this move and I've been discussing it with my family and my agent. I believe this was the answer to my prayers because I wasn't sure if this move would go through, but on the final day of the transfer window, I heard the good news that the club had allowed me to go.
"I want to thank Chennaiyin FC and of course my new club Mumbai City FC for making this possible," he added.
The decision was simple for Chhangte, who regarded Mumbai City FC as the 'best choice' for his career.
The 24-years old feels playing for Mumbai City FC would develop him as a player and provide him international exposure, he said, “Mumbai City are the champions and that is a big factor in coming here. They are a club with the ambition to be at the highest level and coming to Mumbai City FC is the best option for me to grow as a player and a player in the future.
"Of course, being a part of a club that is connected globally will help me progress well and it could also give me a possibility to play outside India if I perform well too," he further added.
Mumbai City FC fans would hope that the 24 years-old winger would add more quality in attack and help the team to qualify for the semi-finals. As MCFC stands on the fifth spot in the league table with 22 points from 14 matches.
