© ISLHero Indian Super League club Atlético de Kolkata presented its full contingent of domestic players, 14 in total, at an exclusive event here today. Reiterating its promise of giving Indian footballers global exposure, the club announced that the 14 players will be going to Spain for a month-long training camp prior to the beginning of the ISL season in October. Luis García, Atlético de Kolkata’s marquee signing, will be joining the squad in Spain, along with the rest of the international players who were selected in the International Players’ Draft in Mumbai. The training programme will be held at the Los Ángeles de San Rafael training base of the club’s Spanish partners, current La Liga champions Atlético de Madrid. Trainer Miguel Martínez has the responsibility of ensuring the players will all be in perfect condition for the inaugural edition of the ISL. Manager Antonio López Habas will also use the time to help his players develop a rapport with each other, stating that the month-long sojourn will be used as a “measure towards building a team”. He went on explain how the training period would help tackle the challenge of developing the “bonding and understanding between players who come with diverse backgrounds and experiences across the world”.“The motivation to win as a team will be provided during this training in Spain.”Sourav Ganguly, Co-Owner, Atletico de Kolkata Team officials are excited by the prospect of the squad coming together and training in Spain. Kolkata cricket icon Sourav Ganguly, part-owner of the club, is confident that “the motivation to win as a team will be provided during this training in Spain.” His partners in the ownership group concurred, with Sanjiv Goenka, whose Goenka Group is a co-owner, enthusiastic about the opportunity for the Indian players to learn from Habas and García. Meanwhile, Utsav Parekh, also co-owner, wants the team to develop the “never-say-die attitude” by the end of the training camp. Training will consist of exercises geared towards building stamina to maintain high-paced football for 90 minutes, as well as lessons in ball coordination and defensive tactics.
