ATK Mohun Bagan will play their play-off round match of the 2022 AFC Cup against Bangladesh-based side Abahani Dhaka at the Salt Lake Stadium, in Kolkata, on April 19. The winner of the knock-out game will qualify for the group stages of the continental event.

The Mariners defeated Sri Lanka’s Blue Star SC 5-0 in Kolkata, earlier this week, in the Preliminary round 2 match. Meanwhile, Abhahani Dhaka was handed a walkover after AFC confirmed that the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) confirmed Club Valencia’s withdrawal from the tournament. Their match, which was scheduled to be held on April 12, was subsequently cancelled.

The winner of the play-off will join Gokulam Kerala FC (India), Bashundhara Kings (Bangladesh) and Maziya Sports and Recreation Club (Maldives) in Group D of the main competition. All the matches of the above-mentioned group will be staged at the Salt Lake Stadium, in Kolkata, from May 18 to May 24, 2022.

ATK Mohun Bagan, who featured in the 2021 AFC Cup, topped their group and went on to play in the inter-zone play-off semi-finals. However, their journey came to a halt after a humiliating 0-6 loss to Uzbek side FC Nasaf, away from home.
