ATK FC were back on top of the Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2019-20 table after a comfortable 3-0 win over Jamshedpur FC at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur on Sunday. Roy Krishna and Edu Garcia were the chief architects of the visitors’ success, with the ATK No.21 grabbing two goals and Garcia one, while earning an assist each as well.

At the post-match press conference, ATK head coach Antonio Habas opined that the first goal set the tone for his side’s dominance over Jamshedpur. He said, “It was good for us that we scored in the early moments. It helped us in the entire match because Jamshedpur had to then attack, and left us to control the match in the counter-attack.”

The Spaniard then, sang praises of his defence and added, “I think that we had fantastic performances in defence, which opened the possibility for us to attack well. We have conceded just one goal in six matches. This is very important to us because that’s what big teams do.”

Despite winning by a 3-0 scoreline, Habas was respectful of Jamshedpur and recognised that Antonio Iriondo’s side was missing out on the quality of some of their key players. “I think that Jamshedpur have a lot of injured players in the second part of the season. They don’t have Piti and others who are important to them. I think Antonio Iriondo is a good coach and Jamshedpur are a good team,” Habas said.

While Krishna was arguably the best performer of the night, Habas felt his entire team and not just the striker deserved credit for the three points. He commented, “We talk about the collective performance and not one player. Roy is an important player for us. I have to praise the first XI and the substitutes. I don’t want to single out one player. He is a good player, a fantastic player. My idea of football is collective and not individual.”

Lastly, the ATK head coach looked ahead to the coming matches and said, “The plan is to go match-to-match. This is the target. I don’t want to think about the future. I want to think only about Odisha (FC). After that, we have to think about the top four and everything.”
