Odisha FC assistant coach Anthony Fernandes highlighted the resilience of his team in a frustrating evening, despite key absences and other challenges, during their goalless draw against Mohammedan SC.

The Kalinga Warriors recorded their second goalless draw after a stalemate with Mumbai City FC the previous week. They remain in fourth position in the ISL table, with 20 points from 13 matches. Odisha FC managed to hold their ground despite missing several pivotal players. Mohammedan SC, on the other hand, had a dominant presence in creating opportunities, but neither side capitalized on key chances.

Mohammedan SC remain at the bottom of the table after losing five consecutive matches until this draw. Fernandes acknowledged his squad's effort to secure at least a point in the ongoing Indian Super League (ISL) campaign.

“I have seen them play well and being unlucky to concede goals sometimes due to individual errors. But we knew they were a very strong team. Speaking about our team, I know we could have done better. But I am still happy with the way the players stood up, trying to do their best to get the point at least.”

Odisha FC’s attack struggled to compensate for the absence of their forward Roy Krishna. The likes of Hugo Boumous and Diego Mauricio could not trouble the opponent's defence or create a threat in the box, failing to register any shots on target.

“Roy Krishna has been one of the best players for us in the forward line. But going forward, I should say yes, we miss him. But other players are equally good enough to take up that position. The gap left by Roy—yes, we did not create as much Mohammedan SC. But we had our chances too, which could have changed the complexion of the game," he said.

Speaking on the replacement for Krishna, Dorielton, who has already joined training, he shared, “He has already started training with us. Maybe he will be available for the next game” hinting at a possible boost in the coming matches.

The midfield also felt the absence of Ahmed Jahouh, who was unavailable due to personal reasons. Fernandes highlighted the impact, saying, “He is one of our mainstays. So it does affect when it comes to passing quality.”

However, he expressed faith in the squad's depth, applauding the efforts of those who stepped up under challenging conditions.

Looking ahead, Odisha FC hopes to regain momentum as they prepare for their next fixture against FC Goa, with Fernandes optimistic about fielding a full squad.

Going into the next match, I think we will have some days with us. Hopefully, we have the full squad available for that game. Once we have the full squad, it will be a different way we go forward.” he stated.

Odisha will aim for a stronger showing as the ISL season progresses, determined to enter the top three.
