Indian Super League (ISL) side Kerala Blasters FC play against Rajasthan United in the Group D fixture, while Bengaluru FC set to take on Mohammedan Sporting Club in the Group C outing on Thursday in the AIFF Super Cup 2025-26.

Kerala Blasters FC face Rajasthan United in first game

Kerala Blasters FC are set to kick off their Super Cup campaign as they take on I-League side Rajasthan United FC in their opening Group D fixture in an early kick-off at the GMC Athletic Stadium in Bambolim.

The encounter will mark the first-ever meeting between the two sides, adding an extra edge to the contest. Under the guidance of head coach David Català, the Blasters will aim to begin their Super Cup journey with confidence and purpose after a long break from competitive football.

Speaking ahead of the match, head coach David Català shared his thoughts on the team’s preparation and goals:

"The team is ready, and the players are working so well. We are very excited to start this competition, knowing that the first games are never easy. Rajasthan United is a very competitive team; they like to press high and are very compact in defence.”

“We have to take care of that, but the most important thing is our performance. I truly believe that if we work at 100%, we will create a lot of chances and will go out with the best attitude to attack and break their lines from the first minute,” he added.

Captain Adrian Luna, who continues to lead the team this season, echoed his coach’s sentiments and expressed confidence in the squad’s mindset heading into the tournament:

"In this short competition, the main goal is to secure all three points from the very start. We have to see how the pitch and the weather conditions are, and adapt to that, but we want to play good, attacking football. Regardless of who is called the favourite, in the end, it's 11 against 11. We have to show a strong personality, strong belief in the team, and a winning mentality to start this season as strong as possible."

The Blasters have assembled a refreshed squad ahead of the campaign, with new foreign signings Koldo Obieta, Tiago Alves, and Juan Rodríguez joining the ranks to add depth and creativity. A few new Indian players have also come on board, giving the team greater flexibility and balance across the pitch.

The Blasters will aim to begin their Super Cup journey on a strong note, just as the Islanders did in their Group D opener. Català’s side will face SC Delhi next on November 3 at Bambolim, followed by a high-profile clash against Mumbai City FC on November 6 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda.

Bengaluru FC face off against Mohammedan SC

The second match of the day will see Bengaluru FC take on Mohammedan Sporting Club at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa.

In their recent meeting between both sides, the Kolkata giants surprised the Blues with a narrow 1-0 victory at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium. However, since then, Bengaluru FC have made some changes to their team, while Mohammedan Sporting Club went through a massive squad overhaul and are set to lock horns with a younger team under the guidance of Mehrajuddin Wadoo.

Bengaluru FC head coach Gerard Zaragoza would like to see his side get the three points with a more direct approach.

We want to play more direct football – overcome lines faster and attack the goal with fewer passes.

“Last season, we were solid defensively, but we needed to create more chances and finish better. That’s something we’ve focused on in pre-season,” Zaragoza said.

The Blues’ goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu highlighted the importance of getting into the rhythm as soon as possible.

It feels great to be back in competitive football. We have been training well, and everyone’s working hard to get back to their rhythm. The main thing now is to stay fit and keep improving with every session,” Sandhu opined.

Mohammedan Sporting Club, on the other hand, are relishing the opportunity to play against a strong side like Bengaluru FC. Head coach Mehrajuddin Wadoo said, “We know Bengaluru FC are a strong team full of experienced professionals, but these are matches you look forward to as a player and as a coach. We’ll go out there, play our football, and give everything we have,” Wadoo remarked.

We need to stay disciplined and work hard – that’s been our identity all season. The results don’t go your way sometimes, but performance is what matters. I’ve told the players to enjoy the occasion and play with freedom. When they express themselves, they perform at their best,” he continued.

Mohammedan Sporting Club defender Sajad Hussain Parray wants to prove himself against quality opposition, saying:

“We’re a young and energetic bunch of players, and we are ready to give it our all. It’s a big challenge, but also a big opportunity for us to prove ourselves against a team like Bengaluru FC.”
